Dr. Nick Rutherford is a specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon offering expertise and experience in many specialty areas. He is the current Director of Maxillofacial Surgery at Austin Health, a post he has held for over a decade. Nick completed undergraduate dentistry and medicine through The University of Melbourne and subsequently completed his specialist training in 2004, gaining his fellowship FRACDS(OMS). He subsequently spent time as a fellow in the UK in the subspecialty areas of craniomaxillofacial trauma, facial deformity, and head and neck oncology. Nick’s favourite subspecialty areas include orthognathic surgery, trauma, and implant surgery, including bone grafting.

Ricky Kumar

Mr Kumar is qualified with degrees in both Medicine and Dentistry. He received several awards during his studies including University of Otago’s most outstanding student during his dental degree as well as F.G Christensen medal for part I exams for his surgical training. He did his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical training in Adelaide from where he completed part II exams with R.A.C.D.S and was awarded the F.R.A.C.D.S (O.M.S) fellowship. He then undertook further 12 months sub-specialty training in paediatric maxillofacial surgery and corrective jaw surgery as a fellowship at Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. To further his skills and clinical interests, he spent another 12 months as a clinical fellow at the prestigious Oxford University Hospitals in UK. Here he received specialised training in paediatric maxillofacial surgery and TMJ surgery. Mr Kumar currently holds appointments as a consultant surgeon at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne and Monash Health (Clayton and Dandenong Hospitals). He is also an honorary consultant at the Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne. He is involved in the training of future surgeons and dentists through these appointments. Mr Kumar practices full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, implantology, oral pathology and facial trauma. His sub-specialty interest areas are paediatric maxillofacial surgery, corrective jaw surgery and TMJ surgery.

He is also an honorary clinical associate professor of OMFS The University of Hong Kong. He is currently the honorary consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Queen Mary Hospital and the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital. Dr Lau held the position of the President of the Hong Kong Association of OMS since 2016 and he is currently the Immediate Past President. He is also the founder and Past President of Young Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Group of Hong Kong. Currently, he is also appointed as the Chairperson of the NextGen section and an Executive Committee member of the International Association of OMS. He serves as a Councilor of both the Asian and International Association of OMS. He also holds the position of Vice President of Hong Kong Society of Sedation and Anesthesia in Dentistry and committee member of Young Dentist Group of Hong Kong Dental Association and an International Faculty of the AOCMF in Asia Pacific Region. He Serves as a Hong Kong Dental Council examiner and a trainer in OMS for the OMS specialist board in College of Dental Surgeons of Hong Kong. He is appointed as the Hong Kong Convention Ambassador by the Hong Kong Tourism Board of Hong Kong. He organizes and frequently speaks in conferences and courses regionally and internationally including organizing ACOMS in 2006 and ICOMS 2017 in Hong Kong. He has also been invited to be interviewed at TV programs, media and magazines, and he writes articles in relation to OMS topic in newspaper columns regularly.
