Why Attend

Orofacial pain can be sharp, persistent, referred, neuropathic, muscular, joint-related, headache-adjacent, or difficult to localize. This webinar will help clinicians move from symptom complexity to clinical clarity.

About the Webinar

Orofacial pain presents a significant clinical burden within oral and maxillofacial surgery practice, yet its diverse mechanisms and overlapping presentations can make diagnosis and management challenging.

In this IAOMS webinar, Professor Peter Svensson will guide participants through current classification systems and why they matter for clinical decision-making, the key mechanisms underlying different types of orofacial pain, and the clinical clues that help distinguish them.

The session will also explore how clinicians can move beyond a one-size-fits-all model toward more individualized patient care.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the clinical burden of orofacial pain in OMFS practice
  • Navigate current classification systems and understand why they matter
  • Distinguish key orofacial pain mechanisms and the clinical clues that help separate them
  • Apply an individualized approach to management rather than a one-size-fits-all model
