The IAOMS Foundation offers world-class fellowship and scholar programs that equip oral and maxillofacial surgeons with advanced training, global connections, and opportunities to share knowledge at home. When you are selected for an IAOMS Foundation Program, you are joining a global movement to elevate education, collaboration, and impact throughout the OMF specialty.

Recipients are expected to:

  • Maintain active IAOMS membership.

  • Engage fully in the program.

  • Share knowledge upon return.

  • Stay connected with IAOMS post-program.

Note: Applicants must be current IAOMS members and commit to IAOMS membership through December 31, 2028.

IAOMS Foundation 12-Month Fellowship Program 

Spend a year at a world-renowned institution advancing your skills in cleft/craniofacial or oncology/microvascular reconstruction surgery. As an IAOMS Foundation Fellow, you will gain deep clinical exposure and return home equipped to train your peers and expand access to care.

Applications Open: Mid-October

Fellowship Cycle: Fall 2027 – Fall 2028

Who should apply: Early- to mid-career OMS surgeons committed to sharing knowledge in their home countries.

 

IAOMS Foundation 6-Month, Advanced Orthognathic and TMJ Fellowship Program 

Refine your expertise in advanced orthognathic and TMJ surgery through immersive training at Bahçesehir University in Istanbul, Turkey. As a graduating Fellow, you will return home prepared to mentor colleagues and strengthen OMS care in your region.
 

Applications Open: Mid-October 2026

Fellowship Cycle: Two Annual Cohorts: September 1 - February 28; March 1 - August 31

Who should apply: Surgeons with substantial prior resident or junior faculty–level experience.

IAOMS Visiting Scholars Program 

Short-term observational learning at leading OMS centers worldwide. As a Visiting Scholar, you will broaden your perspectives, expand your network, and return home ready to introduce new approaches and ideas in your community.

Applications Open: Mid-October 2026

Scholarship Cycle: Fall 2027 – Fall 2028

Who should apply: Surgeons seeking to enhance knowledge and networks through short-term (typically 2 - 4 weeks) global learning observerships.


Other Programs 

Calgary OMFS Fellowship

 

Every year the Calgary OMFS section accepts fellows for a year long advanced orthognathic fellowship. The fellow will gain extensive exposure to the consultation, diagnostic and treatment planning processes, and surgical correction of dentofacial disorders, maxillofacial pathology and TMJ disorders. The fellow will participate in approximately 250 orthognathic surgeries with our teaching faculty, with a significant volume of reconstruction, total joint replacements, and full arch implant rehabilitation.
