The 11th edition of the Biennial Symposium on Surgical Orthodontics (BSSO2026) will bring together orthodontists, maxillofacial surgeons, and professionals involved in surgical orthodontics and orthognathic surgery for three days of clinical and scientific exchange in Haarlem, The Netherlands.
The symposium will focus on current topics in surgical orthodontics and orthognathic surgery, including diagnosis, treatment planning, virtual planning, asymmetry correction, aligners, patient-specific implants, OSA, orthofacial surgery, enhanced recovery, and technology-based approaches to care.
BSSO is known for concise lectures, up-to-date clinical and scientific information, engaging discussion, and a collegial atmosphere. The 2026 faculty includes leading speakers from multiple continents.

IAOMS will be present at BSSO2026. Attendees are encouraged to look for IAOMS onsite during the symposium and connect with the global IAOMS community while in Haarlem.
BSSO2026 is organized by Eddy Becking, Sandy van Teeseling, and Ireen Rientjes. Dr. Alfred G. “Eddy” Becking is also an IAOMS Executive Committee Member-at-Large, creating a meaningful connection between BSSO2026 and the IAOMS community.
The three-day program includes sessions on surgical orthodontics, orthognathic surgery, dentoalveolar compensation, Le Fort I planning, facial asymmetry, aligners in orthognathic patients, patient-specific implants, sleep quality and OSA, orthofacial surgery, and innovations in virtual planning.
The symposium also includes networking opportunities, including drinks and bites during the program and the Jailhouse Rock Winterparty on Thursday evening at the former prison, de Koepel.
