IAOMS is opening a global Call for Volunteers to fill open spots on the Education, Research, and NextGen Committees.

Quick Facts

  • Application deadline: March 31, 2026
  • Appointments announced: Mid-April 2026
  • Term: April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027 (committee meetings will begin in late April or Early May).
  • Preferences: You may select two committees (in order).
Eligibility Requirements - All applicants must be active IAOMS members:
  • IAOMS committee volunteer roles require a pre-requisite of three consecutive years of IAOMS membership (member since 2024, renewed for 2026) and require volunteers to remain active IAOMS members.
  • NextGen Committee applicants require a pre-requisite of one year of IAOMS Membership (member since 2025, renewed for 2026) and applicants must be under 40 years of age by December 31, 2026.

Education Committee

The IAOMS Education Committee oversees education activities, including Scientific Webinars, Podcasts, and Microlearning Video Series.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Advising, planning, and executing online programs
  • Content goals and speaker selection
  • Program moderation
  • Promoting IAOMS education to your network
  • Ensuring programs meet the needs of the full spectrum of IAOMS members

Research Committee

The Research Committee assists the IAOMS Board of Directors in planning and implementing research programs and initiatives serving all member career levels to improve the quality and safety of healthcare worldwide.

Responsibilities include:
  • Identifying research projects, programs, and initiatives
  • Advisement, planning, and execution of research programs, fellowships, and projects
  • Sponsor outreach
  • Promoting IAOMS research initiatives to your network
  • Ensuring research supports NextGen/early-career, mid-career, and mature-career members

NextGen Committee

The IAOMS NextGen Committee connects OMF surgeons across the globe, cultivates young surgeon leaders, fosters networking opportunities, and increases international awareness of IAOMS.

Eligibility: Under 40 years of age by December 31, 2026.
Responsibilities include:
  • Acting as an IAOMS NextGen ambassador
  • Promoting IAOMS and NextGen initiatives through personal connections and on social media
  • Planning and implementing NextGen meetings and conferences (online and in person)
  • Connecting with industry suppliers for IAOMS NextGen sponsorship opportunities
  • Contributing videos, images, articles, educational content, and testimonials for IAOMS marketing and communications
  • Supporting initiatives aligned with IAOMS Board direction
  • Using IAOMS NextGen marketing materials to promote NextGen

Commitment Expectations

  • Term: April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027
  • Service: Eligible for up to three consecutive one-year terms
  • Participation: Attend at least 75% of online committee meetings
  • In-person: Participate in-person at ICOMS and your regional and national association's events when possible

This is a working committee structure. We are seeking members ready to contribute.

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by each committee’s leaders. Recommendations will be submitted to the IAOMS Board of Directors for approval.

IAOMS is committed to geographic diversity, career-stage representation, and global inclusion.

How to Apply

Deadline: March 31, 2026
Appointments announced: Mid-April 2026
Term begins: Immediately upon approval
  1. Select one or two committees in order of your preference.
  2. Submit a 200-word personal statement for each selected committee explaining why you want to serve.
  3. Optional: Add any additional comments that may help the committee understand your interest and fit.
