The IAOMS Foundation connects oral and maxillofacial surgeons with leading institutions, mentors and professional communities around the world through immersive fellowships and focused Visiting Scholar observerships.

Whether you are seeking a year of advanced specialty training, a six-month international fellowship or a short-term observational experience, IAOMS Foundation programs are designed to expand clinical knowledge, strengthen global relationships and help participants bring new skills and perspectives home to their patients, colleagues and communities.

Core Eligibility for 2027–2028 IAOMS Foundation Programs

While each program has its own requirements, all 2027–2028 Foundation Fellowship and Visiting Scholar applicants must meet these core criteria:

Be a current IAOMS member with at least two years of membership, meaning membership since October 2024.
Have completed basic oral and maxillofacial surgery training by June 30, 2026 and be within five years of completing that training at the time of application.
Applicants must be current IAOMS members for a minimum of two years and commit to IAOMS membership through December 31, 2028.
Engage fully in the selected program.
Share knowledge and experience after returning home.
Stay connected with the IAOMS community following the program.

The Qiu Weiliu International Fellowship Program is made possible through a generous $50,000 annual gift for three years from Dr. James Chow, a member of the IAOMS Foundation Board of Trustees.
