Program Overview

The IAOMS Foundation 12-Month Fellowship Program places oral and maxillofacial surgeons in immersive, 12-month clinical environments to advance skills in priority areas, build global connections, and contribute knowledge back to their home institutions and regions.

Cleft Lip & Palate / Craniofacial Surgery

Oncology & Microvascular Reconstruction

Note: The Fellowship Committee will determine the fellowship location for each recipient.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Dental or Medical Degree (or both), as required in your country
  • Completion of OMS residency by (or up to 5 years post-residency)
  • Desire to pursue an academic career and educate colleagues and trainees
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Submit a written report to the IAOMS Foundation within two months of returning.
  • Applicants must be current IAOMS members and commit to IAOMS membership through December 31, 2027.   
  • Agree to share experiences via interview, photo and/or video.

Application Requirements

  1. Complete the online application (includes a personal statement).
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  3. Headshot Photo
  4. Letter of Recommendation from your Training Program Director.
  5. Letter of Privileges from your professor or department head, outlining OMS privileges (e.g., types of surgery, diagnosis, frequency).
  6. Two Letters of Recommendation from IAOMS members or your affiliated national OMS association.
  7. List of Three Professional References (names and contact information).
  8. Signed Confidentiality Agreement.
