Dr. Gabriele Millesiio Bio

Gabriele A. Millesi is an Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Vienna, Austria. After organizing the 2005 International Conference of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Vienna, she became Chairperson of the Task Force Future Issues of the Profession Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for the IAOMS. A Global Survey for Members and Trainees was performed and the results are being used to understand the needs of future generations in the IAOMS. Currently, she is the Immediate Past President of IAOMS.

Professor Federico Hernandez-Alfaro Bio

Federico Hernández-Alfaro MD, DDS, PhD, FEBOMS is a Full Professor and Chief of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery International University of Catalonia / Teknon Medical Center. He is the author of the books "Grafts in Implant Dentistry", "Advanced Implant Surgery", "Bone Grafting in Oral Implantology" and "Controversial Issues in Implant Dentistry".He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Oral Implantology and of the Spanish Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Nardi Casap Bio (Moderator)

Nardy Casap D.M.D., M.D. is a full professor and chairman of the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Faculty of Dental Medicine, Jerusalem, Israel. After completion of his residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Hadassah Medical Center, he spent two years in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of California, San-Francisco. Prof. Casap is a Member-At-Large on the Executive Committee of IAOMS since 2021. He serves as a member of various committees of the IAOMS, including the education committee, podcast committee, webinar committee and IAOMS strategic committee. He was a member of the organizing committee of the 2021 ICOMS that was planned to take place in Glasgow, and a member of the academic committee of the upcoming 2023 ICOMS of Vancouver. Prof. Casap is a past chairman of the Israeli Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Israel chancellor of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is the chairman of the Israel Dental Association Scientific Committee and past chairman of the Israeli Maxillofacial Professional Committee. Prof. Casap is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Quintessence International and numerous others. He has over 80 peer reviewed publications and book chapters. His main research interests are: orthognathic and craniofacial surgery, navigation surgery systems, bone reconstruction, bone morphogenetic proteins, endoscopic surgery and periosteal distraction.

Prof. Dr. Asensio Guerrero earned his medical degree at Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala and his dental degree at Universidad Europea of Madrid, specializing in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery Rumania and Spain. He is board certificated BLACIBU, ALACIBU, Vocal of the Board of Directors and active Maxillofacial Surgeon at Hospital Escuela Centro Infantil de Estomatología “Dr. Oscar Asensio”, and is the Education Coordinator at distance of ALACIBU and the South America Council of NextGen IAOMS.

Dr. Emeka Nkenke Bio

Prof. Nkenke is Professor and head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. He is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery. The clinical interests of Prof. Nkenke are cleft lip and palate surgery, reconstructive surgery, and orthognathic surgery.

Dr. Majeed Rana Bio

Professor Rana grew up in a small village near Frankfurt am Main in Germany. After his A-Level he decided to attend a career as medical officer in the German armed forces. After his duty and finishing his studies, he was trained in Aachen, Hannover and Hamburg.One key moment in his life was the surgery of a small boy with craniosynostosis. He and his colleagues used 3D computer assisted design and additive manufacturing to develop and use a patient individual implant made of lactose. With this process he realized what potential is within this combination of methods.Currently he is he senior physician and deputy head of the department for Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at university hospital Düsseldorf. His main points of efforts in research are the computer assisted development of resorbable patient individual implants made of new alloys. Also, the quality of life of cancer patients and the implementation of workflows for intraoperative 3D mapping within midface and cranium base tumour surgeries are valuable research fields. Dr. Rana serves as the Education Officer for the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS).

    Dr. Florian Thieringer Bio

    Florian M. Thieringer is Chair and Full Professor for Oral and Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgeon and a Medical 3D Expert at the University Hospital Basel (UHBS) and the University of Basel, Switzerland. Besides his clinical expertise in facial trauma, tumor, orthognathic and reconstructive surgery, he leads the Medical Additive Manufacturing Research Group (Swiss MAM) at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Basel, and serves as Co-Director of the multidisciplinary 3D Print Lab at the point-of-care, UHBS. Thieringer is internationally recognized for his work in computer-assisted surgery and medical additive manufacturing. As Co-Principal Investigator of the MIRACLE II project, he contributes to developing a robotic endoscope for contact-free bone surgery and patient-specific implants. He is also a board member of the University Hospital Basel flagship project, "Innovation Focus Regenerative Surgery.

    Prof Dr Dr hc Julio Acero MD, DMD, PhD, FEBOMFS FDSRCS FIBCSOMS FBLACIBU Julio Acero is the Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Ramon y Cajal and the Puerta de Hierro University Hospitals in Madrid, Spain, Full Professor of Surgery at the Alcala University of Madrid. He studied Medicine and Dentistry and obtained his PhD at the university in Madrid being distinguished as Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Iasi, Romania and by the National University of Athens, Greece. Fellow Ad eundem of the Royal College of Surgeons of England as well as Fellow and Examiner of the International Board for the Certification of Specialists in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (IBCSOMS). Prof Acero is a Member of the Spanish National Academy of Dental Sciences and foreign Member of the National Academy of Dentistry of Argentina. His special fields of interest are oncologic and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck including the skull base and salivary gland pathology, as well as bone regeneration. He has lectured and published widely in these fields and has been appointed as invited Professor in different universities around the world including the official appointments of External Full Professor of the National University of Athens (Greece), Honorary Professor at the University of Ferrara (Italy), the University of Belgrade (Serbia), the University of Bucharest (Romania) and the National University of Nordeste (Corrientes, Argentina).     Dr. Alberto Haddad Bio

    Dr. Alberto Haddad obtained his Medical Degree at Complutense University of Madrid in 2012 with an “Excellence Scholarship” awarded by the Community of Madrid. He performed his training program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Ramón y Cajal University Hospital and Puerta de Hierro University Hospital (Madrid), between 2013 and 2018, obtaining the “Final Trainee National Award” from the Spanish Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (SECOM) in 2018. He also has a Master Degree in “Aesthetic Medicine and Anti-Aging” from the Complutense University of Madrid and “University Expert Degree in Orthognathic Surgery” granted by the University of Alcalá. In Munich, Germany, in September 2018, he was awarded with the "Fellow of the European Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons". He has visited international departments in Bruges (AZ Sint-Jan), New York City (NYU Langone Medical Center) and Santiago de Chile (Clínica Alemana de Santiago) interested in the field of traumathology, orthognathic surgery and reconstructive surgery. Nowadays he works as a consultant at Ramon y Cajal University Hospital and Puerta de Hierro University Hospital and also in the private practice at Quirón University Hospital and “Instituto Maxilofacial Acero (IMA)”. He is profesor at the “University Expert Degree in Orthognathic Surgery” held at the University of Alcalá.         Dr. David Powers currently is a Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery; Division of Plastic, Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery at Duke University Medical Center. He holds secondary appointments as a Professor of Surgery in the Departments of Neurosurgery and Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences. Dr. Powers serves as Director of the Craniomaxillofacial Trauma Program, and Fellowship Director for the Craniomaxillofacial Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship. He holds national leadership positions on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, the AO CMF North America and SORG North America. Dr. Powers also serves as a representative to the Central Committee on Trauma for the American College of Surgeons. He attended the University of Kentucky for his undergraduate and dental degrees, the University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio for his medical degree and completed his General Surgery internship and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center and San Antonio Military Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. His surgical experience in facial trauma was attained during a 21-year military career highlighted by the acute management of ballistic and other injuries of warfare, as well as performing secondary and tertiary facial reconstructive surgery during various staff assignments at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, the National Naval Medical Center – Bethesda and the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He lectures and has published extensively on the management of ballistic and high- energy transfer injuries to the craniomaxillofacial skeleton, comprehensive reconstruction techniques for facial trauma, and the use of computer-aided surgical planning and patient- specific implants for anatomic rehabilitation after catastrophic craniomaxillofacial injuries.

        Dr. Bell is a fellowship trained oral and maxillofacial/head and neck oncologic surgeon, whose clinical practice is focused on the comprehensive surgical management of patients with head and neck cancer, including tumors of the oral cavity, oropharynx, larynx, thyroid and skull base. His primary research interest is in developing novel approaches to enhance the effectiveness of surgery for the treatment of head and neck cancer. His work has been published in more than 150 scientific articles and book chapters and he is co-author of two major textbooks published by Elsevier, including "Oral, Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery". Dr. Bell is currently Physician Executive and Director, Division of Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Clinical Programs for Providence Cancer Institute- Oregon; Medical Director of the Providence Head and Neck Cancer Program; and Member and Director of Surgical Oncology Research at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute, a division of the Providence Cancer Institute.
